What The Hell Is Self Talk? Self talk is what you say to your SELF. Like this…
“I said to my self, self why do I feel this way?” Self talk is what “you” the conscious one are saying to “you” the subconscious one.
Everyone does this whether they realize it or not. So why is this important? Why am I writing about self talk? Because, self talk is how you, yes you, and me are costantly programming our brains to go about all the things we do. This programming forms beliefs and beliefs are what we use as a benchmark to base our “every moment” decisions on and we do most of that on autopilot.
Think about that for a second, what are your beliefs? My beliefs can, do and will always determine what I can and cant do. Ok, back to self talk, I will go into the rest of this in another post.
Self talk is like CSS for the brain, what you say to yourself constantly builds the “style sheet” that your brain uses to present you with options based on the decisions you have to make. If you were to use improper code when building a website the end result can not work correctly, ever.
So what!?!
Well, consider this. Whats the difference between you and the Jones’s across the street or your brother who is living his dream or, or, or.
Self talk turns into beliefs. Our every decision is based on our beliefs. The sum total of our decisions determines the amount of success we can achieve in ever area of our lives.
- Attitude
- Personality
- Relationships
- Health - mentally and physical
- Financially
- The list goes on and on
There are many things we can do to change our lives but none have the immediate and lasting results that self talk and intentional internal dialog has.
