As popular as the law of attraction has become over the last few years I have yet to read or watch an actual “how to” to manifest what I desire that really covers the whole thing. So, I am going to put the process into my own words according to how I have witnessed it to work.
OK, where to start? Should I list all the steps and then go into detail?
BTW, these are what I consider the steps… and no, I am not a doctor, dr. PhD, MD etc etc.
My List Of LOA STEPS.
- Desire or want
- Clear understanding of the feeling it will create when you have it
- The ability to Act As If (WITHOUT DOUBT, FEAR, ETC) meaning you can “FEEL” that feeling now
- Determination
- Belief
- Acceptance
- The ability to believe it has come to pass and move on by Letting Go of it
So let’s converse about this whole idea for a minute. When you were a child, did anyone tell you that “you can be anything you want if you put your mind to it!” How about, “You can have anything you want if you want it enough!”?
What does that really mean? “If you put your mind to it???” Well, we need to discuss a little about the brain and the mind and how they work and then how they work together. Remember, I am not a doctor nor a scientist. But I have repeatedly reaped the rewards and consequences for the actions I have taken which were only options after I made a decision which could have only been presented as a choice after doing one thing… THINKING.
Let’s clear something up real quick. Have you ever been lectured and heard the person doing the lecturing say “What’s the matter with you??? You WEREN’T THINKING!!!” Or have you ever stated, “I must not have been thinking,” after you did something that was dumb?
The truth is, you were thinking. You may have not “meant” to do what you did on one level, BUT, you were thinking, then made a decision then took action on that choice. And yes, I say a lot to make simple points, deal with it.
So, why did you make a bad choice? Why did you get something you didn’t want? Why did the opposite of what you wanted to happen happen?
That’s where the brain comes in. Your physical brain is AMAZING!!! Scientists have proven that our brains are 100’s if not 1000’s of times faster, more agile, more ACCURATE, and capable of things than machines will ever (I use ‘ever’ loosely) be. The brain has the ability to “become” what it needs to become to continue forward motion at a thing called life.
The brain can re-wire itself to compensate for “problems” or damage and overcome “disabilities.” Take for example the man who crashed a single engine airplane in the early 1990’s (I think) who was so physically destroyed (for a lack of a better word) that specialists from around the globe said, “he will never walk again,” “he will never be able to speak again,” “he will not be able to feed himself,” etc, the list goes on. In fact all of the doctors that saw him were baffled by the fact that he was not already dead! Well, he did walk again, speak again, regain all the use of all his limbs, that list also goes on. In fact, he is flying planes again.
How about someone who loses the ability to see? With the right mind set, the brain WILL rewire itself to regain that ability.
Or how about someone who loses the ability to walk? If their bones, muscles, and all that other stuff still work, guess what? They will regain the ability to walk. Need proof? Go look on the internet for a couple hours and come back and finish reading this.
OK, if you were really paying attention to that last little paragraph you might have caught something…
“mindset”!!!
If you believe, you can achieve. And that’s not bullshit. So what are we talking about???
The brain is a living organism that has the function of a machine. Where it is so much more lies within its ability to regenerate according to its needs. However, much like a calculator it is only the “processor,” “the machine,” “the one who carries out the commands.”
That’s where our “mind” comes in. The brain is capable of things we haven’t even imagined yet. Hmmm, ‘imagined,’ we’ll come back to that. So, if our brain is the “order taker” than who is the “order giver”? Yep, the mind.
The mind has been called a lot of things, it’s been studied, it’s been mapped, it’s been tested, it’s been broken, it’s been changed, it’s been challenged… get the point? The one thing the mind has not been is located. Some doctors and scientists believe the mind and the brain are one; most, however, do not. The mind has been the center of some of the biggest ongoing “studies” for centuries: psychology, psychiatry, neuroscience, philosophy, etc. Still there are some of the most basic questions about the mind that have yet to be answered.
Unanswered questions about THE MIND:
- What is it?
- How does it operate?
- Where is the mind located?
- Is it only inside us?
- Do we really have control of it?
- How do we actually use it?
- Can we sharpen it like a tool?
- What happens if we really “lose it”?
- Can we learn how to use it more effectively and efficiently?
Well, I have my own answers to those questions and then some.
Remember, these are my conclusions, in which I have created a belief system to support me. These conclusions allow me to use “it” to create the life I want to live. And since this is my space, I can do that.

First, what is the mind?
I call it the Conscious.
It operates the same way all energy does.
The mind is everywhere, based on quantum theory, it is “whereever I observe it to be.”
The mind is inside of us, outside of us and all around of us.
We have as much control of it as we believe we do.
We use it all the time, either intentionally or unintentionally.
We don’t sharpen it, we sharpen our ability to use it, much like getting better at a sport or driving or playing guitar. It is its own thing which we have the opportunity to utilize or just coast on autopilot.
Well, if you really lose it, you are no longer conscious and would cease to exist. This is different from being “mad” or insane or incapable of being rational. Those, too, I believe can be corrected if the person can believe it to be so (see the airplane pilot example above). Don’t argue with me– I did it for myself and was as nuts as one could possibly be!
Can you learn to spell, drive, talk, love, respect, focus, etc? Then, yes, you can learn to use your mind more effectively and get better results from your “inner discussion” or “self talk,” if you go through the steps to do so.
Which leads us to the original idea of this post, the Law Of Attraction.
- What is it?
- How Does It Work?
- What Do I Do To Make It Work For Me?
It is a “universal law“ that states that Like Attracts Like, for example… As above, so below. Or, As I think, so I get/do/have.
It is a formula like addition and subtraction and has an equation that can be learned just as easily. It is a law, meaning it is what it IS and can not be changed or altered, only applied. Like gravity on this planet, what goes up must come down, you can’t change that, but you can “use it.”
All you need to do to get the Law Of Attraction to work for you is to learn the formula, input the equations and apply those as principles… here we go.
The formula is as we stated earlier:
- Desire or want
- Clear understanding of the feeling it will create when you have it
- The ability to act as if (WITHOUT DOUBT, FEAR, ETC) meaning you can “FEEL” that feeling now
- Belief
- Acceptance
- Determination
- The ability to believe it has come to pass and move on by letting go of it
Desire is an emotion, in and of its self: a longing for something. To obtain something of importance.
Feeling is the sensation of something, used here in the sense of, “I feel elated when I am with the one I love,” or, ” When I drive this car, I FEEL like I’m in a race car, it handles like its on rails,” or, “I feel healthy when I am happy.”
The ability to act as if: This is where it starts getting difficult for most, and so I’m going to go off on a tangent. If my immediate circumstances seem like I am broke, unhappy, out of shape, sick, etc., then how the hell am I supposed to act like that’s not the case? I will get more into this in a minute but let me “set you up” and give you some “autosuggestion.” What does an airplane do right before it takes flight and leaves the ground? It goes from standing still, to cruising down the runway, to lifting its nose off the ground and eventually pulling the rest of itself into the air.
Now, lets work that out:
Before it started moving down the runway, the engines had to be turned on, revved up and engaged with the gear to get it moving. Then, it had to begin lifting itself off the ground and did so by changing the angles of its wings. Finally, it provided more throttle and speed and lift to bring itself up off the ground.
The point is, as a pilot, “YOUR MIND” didn’t just hop in and turn on a key and POOF the plane was in the air 30,000 feet off the ground– IT’S A PROCESS. This step leads to the next.
Lets make sense of that. The plane was turned on, revved up (acting as if it is going to move), engaged with the gears (beginning to move after it acted like it was going to move), changed the angle of its wings (acting like its going to lift off), applied more throttle and speed to bring itself all the way off the ground (using the previous steps to build enough confidence to take the next couple of steps), and it’s now in the air… and there’s more, steering, soaring, landing, and doing it all over again.
Belief: This one, probably more than the rest, deserves its own post but I will give you my short version. When you were little and your mom told you that she loved you, you knew it because you felt it. When you hear something, think something, learn something, and you begin to believe in it to the point that “it” (whatever it is) becomes a fact for you, you have created a belief about it. Without belief, nothing can happen, certainly not using your ability to create something other than what may just “happen” to you. And whether you like it or not, whether you understand it or not, whether you agree with it or not, the beliefs you are living with are shaping your entire existence and every little experience and circumstance that comes your way.
Acceptance: In the way I use it, I am talking about accepting the idea or thought as the “truth,” meaning if I think I can make $200k at my new job, go in and crush the preset goals for where I should be, figure out the numbers and decide I can do what it takes to make that happen and believe in that as a fact, and have no doubt or uncertainty about it, eventually I will accept that for myself. There is a whole lot more that goes with it, but here is another example: If I don’t know how to swim, but I can reason it in my head, believe that it is possible for me to really and actually do the act of swimming, go practice until I can swim, the acceptance part happened between the believing and the practicing.
Which brings us to:
Determination: If you fall off the horse, you get back on and try again. Human kind as well as everything else would not be here if life itself gave up after one or two tries. If you want something, whether it is change in general, some material thing, or even the “perfect” companionship, you may have to try more than a couple times to get this (manifesting or consciously creating) right.
Come To Pass
Now, this is where die-hard, new age thinkers and newbies fail in the process of creating the actual “thing” or experience they are so diligently trying to bring about. Ever heard the expression, “Let go, Let God”???
You can have all the right ingredients to make Grandma’s special loaf of zucchini bread, and you can mix them all up in the right order and be so close you can taste it, but if you don’t put that damn pan in the oven and let it cook, it will never turn out to be a loaf of bread – that is actually impossible.
Need another analogy? Building a hot rod, you can have all the parts and put them together in the right way, but without gas it ain’t goin’ anywhere.
More to come on this – it seems much more easy than it really is. I did not say simple, I said easy– you just need to relearn how to ask for things in the right way kinda like a 3 year old. Stay tuned, more to come… And yes, this too shall pass.
